The Mallians
This ancient kingdom deserves the singular distinction of being the only army to finally turn back Alexander's Legions, by nearly killing Alexander himself. The wound from this battle took months to heal, and once recovered, Alexander ordered his army to return to Babylon en route to a full return to Macedonia, and greater Greece. Alexander would never reach that final goal, dying of sickness in Babylon nearly a year after this battle.
The Mallians, the ancient ancestors to the modern Multans, where located upon a river the Macedonians called the Hydraotes, and was an early version of the Chenab River in the Punjab region of Pakistan. Modern citizens of the Punjab still tell tales of this ancient battle over 2000 years later. My composition pays complement and homage to these ancient warriors, defending their home from foreign invaders with legendary valor and skill.
